Alanna Mitchell

Alanna Mitchell is a journalist and author who writes about science. Her latest book, Sea Sick: The Global Ocean in Crisis, is an international best seller. Alanna has won four international awards for her science writing, and in 2010 became the first Canadian journalist to win the esteemed U.S. Grantham Prize. She wrote the series “Brainstorm” on neuroscience and education for The Toronto Star as the 2009 Atkinson Award fellow. She spent 14 years at The Globe and Mail on beats that included social trends, earth sciences and national correspondent in Calgary, and three years at The Financial Post covering real estate and banking.
